During my time in Birmingham, I got some time out of my busy schedule to do a little city culinary scene extensive tour, trying out different restaurants that cater to global tastes.

I started my culinary adventure at Opheem, a Michelin starred restaurant that brings a modern twist to Indian cuisine with British influences. Chef Aktar Islam has crafted a menu that is both artistic and flavorful. The tasting menu was a journey in itself, with dishes like smoked lamb and delicate seafood plates that melted in my mouth. If you appreciate fine dining with a touch of innovation, this place is a must see.

2. Adam’s Restaurant

This fine dining establishment took my breath away with its attention to detail and exquisite flavors. Adam’s offers a contemporary take on British cuisine, serving dishes that are beautifully plated and bursting with flavor. The tasting menu showcased locally sourced ingredients prepared with precision every bite was a delight.

Located right in almost the center of Birmingham, The Ivy Temple Row is a stylish brasserie that delivers classic British dishes with elegance. I tried their famous shepherd’s pie and was not disappointed. The rich flavors and cozy ambiance made this a perfect spot to relax after a day of exploring.

4. Purnell’s

Purnell’s is another Michelin starred gem in Birmingham, run by celebrity chef Glynn Purnell. The menu features modern British dishes with creative twists. The standout dish for me was the monkfish masala, a delightful fusion of British seafood with South Asian spices.

5. Lasan (Indian)

Birmingham is also famous for its Indian food, and Lasan is one of the top contenders on the list. This fine restaurant offers a refined dining experience also maintaining the authentic essence of Indian cuisine. I went for the slow cooked lamb and garlic naan, and the flavors transported me straight to the streets of Delhi, lol.

6. Anderson’s Bar & Grill (Steakhouse)

For those who love a good steak, Anderson’s Bar & Grill is the place for you. This steakhouse serves top quality cuts with bold flavors. I ordered their signature ribeye, cooked to perfection, and paired it with a rich peppercorn sauce, it was one of the best steaks I’ve ever had.

7. The Warehouse Cafe

As a traveler, I always look for great vegetarian options as well, and The Warehouse Cafe did not disappoint. This cozy eatery offers a creative plant based menu with dishes that are as satisfying as they are healthy. I had their vegan burger, and it was packed with everything needed.

8. 1847 Birmingham

the 1847 Birmingham is originally named after the year the Vegetarian Society was founded, 1847 is a must visit for plant based food lovers. Their menu is innovative, and I was particularly impressed by their jackfruit tacos and beetroot risotto.
